A groundbreaking neurosurgeon tasked us with developing an endoscopic tool to solve the technical challenges of minimally invasive surgery to correct brain aneurysms. We developed an ultra-small endoscopic tool which places an angle adjustable, repositionable titanium clip on the blood vessel, only making it permanent once it has been established that the clip is in the correct position, and the procedure requires only a single 12mm hole to be made in the skull. Previous to this, clips were a one shot, non-adjustable procedure which required destructive removal if the clip wasn’t in the correct position, and multiple >30mm holes drilled into the skull incase the clip needed to be removed and replaced. The client went on to sell the design to a German medical manufacturer.
